Has The Fire Been Quenched? The Uncertain Future of Forged In Fire

As the forge lies dormant and the anvils have fallen silent, the blacksmithing community and fans of the beloved series Forged in Fire find themselves in a state of eager anticipation mixed with uncertainty.

After a vibrant start to its 10th season in early October, which saw the airing of eight gripping episodes including a very popular “On the Road” feature, the show unexpectedly receded into the shadows just before the holidays, leaving a void filled with questions and an unquenched thirst for more.

Radio Silence

Since the airing of the latest episode, the History Channel's programming schedules have remained conspicuously devoid of new Forged in Fire content, and despite repeated inquiries by BRUTE de FORGE, both the network and its parent company, A+E, have maintained silence as impenetrable as the steel crafted on the show. This lack of communication has only fueled speculation and concern among the dedicated audience following the series through its journey of craftsmanship and competition.

A Bank of New Episodes

Adding a glimmer of hope to the situation, David Baker, world-renowned weapons maker, Forged in Fire judge, and previous BDF guest, recently broke the silence. In a recent Instagram post, David revealed that approximately 30 brand new episodes are waiting in the wings, yet even he remains in the dark regarding their airdate. This revelation has sent ripples through the community, simultaneously raising spirits and questions about the network's plans for the series.

Forged in Fire Season 11?

All might not be as it seems, however. The assumption from many has been that the current season couldn’t possibly be considered complete after only eight episodes, which has led to much speculation about a potential return in the coming weeks. However, despite more recent seasons boasting episode counts totaling twenty-plus, the earliest days of the hit series saw much shorter seasons. In fact, the very first season consisted of, get this, eight episodes! This leads us to the question, is the network prepping for a massive drop of episodes in an epic eleventh season?

If premieredate.news is to be believed, then the answer is yes! According to the release date fact-finding website, Forged in Fire has officially been “green lit” for an eleventh season. Additionally, the site has the next scheduled episode as being the first episode of a new season. Similarly, IMBD has removed all references to additional Season 10 episodes. While that site does not yet list an eleventh season, this could at least confirm that Season 10 is considered to be complete. Take this news with a grain of salt, of course, since there’s been no official word from the network or the show’s stars. It is, however, a potential light at the end of the tunnel.

It’s time to relight the forges

The delay in Forged in Fire’s return has left a noticeable gap in the bladesmithing world, a community that thrives on the inspiration, education, and entertainment that the show provides. Forged in Fire has not only been a platform for skilled artisans to showcase their talents but has also played a crucial role in reviving and sustaining interest in the ancient craft of bladesmithing, as well as kicking off many full-time bladesmithing careers. Its hiatus has left both veteran smiths and newcomers to the forge hanging in suspense, wondering if and when they will see their favorite craftsmen back in action.

Despite the lack of a firm return date, the evidence shows that we will soon be graced with even more awesome bladesmithing content. In the meantime, we’ve got plenty of Forged in Fire content to keep you covered until the show returns, including exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes secrets from the show’s judges and contestants. And make sure to follow us on our socials to be alerted as soon as we have a firm release date from the network.
